Intuition at Work

Intuition In The Workplace - Intuitive Decision Making in Business

What is intuition? Why is it important? Albert Einstein said :

Imagination is more important than knowledge’.

Intuition is that feeling, that sixth sense, when you just know something about a person, a place, a situation. The pressures of modern life has resulted in our lessening the ability to connect with ourselves, we rely too much on facts, figures, data, rather than our instinct. Of course, common sense says that we need a balance of the two, however intuition is a tool which can be honed to develop the senses, make more informed decisions and communicate more effectively with others. Carl Jung is quoted as saying that ‘the term intuition does not denote something contrary to reason, but something outside the province of reason’.

Intuition In The Workplace

Developing Intuition in Business

Developing intuition is becoming increasingly recognised as an additional tool for business in these challenging times. Increasing pressure, fear, stress and habit inhibits our ability to allow our intuition to talk to us. We’ve lost touch with our intuition as we have become so reliant on data. When was the last time you had an intuitive thought? Did you ignore it? What was the outcome? Would you act differently if something like that happened another time? On another level, when was the last time you found yourself thinking about someone then the phone rang and it was that person? That is your intuition kicking in. We all have intuition, it’s a question of learning how to tap into it, trust it and use it.

Intuition Is Nothing New...

I have worked with intuition for many years, initially through working with Tarot, however, over the years I have developed techniques and exercises to develop intuition. I do this on an individual basis, individual groups and workshops for corporate exercises. This is nothing new, ‘Executive ESP’ was identified, researched and written about in the early 1960s (Dean and Mihalasky). Since that time there have been numerous books written on the subject, although the one conclusion I have come to is this. The only way to develop intuition is to use it, practice it and over time you will find that it is an automatic process.

Intuition at Work

Intuition Workshops for Businesses

We can offer a series of modular workshops develop Intuition at Work, this will be tailored for the individual client depending on the size, culture and nature of the business. Typical duration is one day. There are core areas covered, including what is intuition, why is it important, what facilitates intuition, exercises to clear ego blocks, listening to yourself, how to develop your senses, framing questions and practical tips to take away. The latter point is really important, things that you can do straight away to sharpen your intuition and use it in your daily life. Of course this does not just apply to business life, these tools can be applied to personal life and relationships too.

Additional topics include intuitive communication styles, affirmation and visualisation, mind mapping techniques.

Instructor in Intuition

These workshops are delivered by Lucy Setters, an intuitive who has been working with the subject for over 25 years. Lucy has a strong corporate background, having worked as an independent management consultant, senior manager for a global financial company and more latterly for a major .com company. She sees no reason why intuitive styles cannot work hand in hand with the corporate environment.

Feedback from clients to date has been extremely positive, as the workshop not only adds to the employee skill set, it facilitates team building and provides an opportunity for reflection away from the workplace. These workshops are also fun!
